Nepal Disaster Relief

Midwest Food Bank - Indianapolis is, again, partnering with the Orphan Grain Train to continue disaster relief efforts in Nepal. Our two organizations have a continuing partnership in Liberia and we are happy to do our small part to aide with the most recent disaster in Kathmandu. Agency Roundtable Spring 2015

The Georgia Division held its first Agency Roundtable on April 30th.  58 of our 142 agencies were represented!  The warehouse was buzzing with activity as we shared information with them regarding Load Out procedures and upcoming calendar changes; and they networked with one another - addressing challenges, offering suggestions for volunteer recognition, and sharing other ideas.  We also used the opportunity to review food product dating guidelines - again!  The event ended with a special distribution of …

Stepping out in Faith

HATCH Egg Program

Increasing our Capacity to Serve

The Midwest Food Bank – Georgia Division has installed more storage racks in their main warehouse.  These additional racks will hold up to 80 pallets of food.  With this increased storage capacity, the Georgia Division can store over 40 semi-truck loads of food and disaster relief supplies.  As always, BIG THANKS to our volunteers who daily give of their time and talents to help us Share the Blessings.

Distribution in Morton? Coming Soon!

    A volunteer group from a local church spent time in our warehouse recently bagging high quality dried Cranberry Beans. Thanks to this productive crew our partnering agencies will receive these nutritious beans along with recipes and tips for preparing dried beans. 1,503 bags prepared and ready to go for our next distribution!

Midwest Food Bank will be working on a new video this year and the company we selected did a short film on a Peoria Distribution!    Each month MFB nationally distributes over 200,000 cases of free food donations.  That is over 100 semi-truck loads that God has provided for so many needs.  In Peoria over 243 agencies receive these products every month.     Did you know that 80% of Illinois counties receive MFB distributions? …

In 2013, Typhoon Haiyan devastated large portions of southeast Asia, in particular, the Philippines (where it is known as Typhoon Yolanda). We responded to the disaster back then and continue to support the rebuilding effort. Georgia Division gets Cold Storage

God is so good! We are excited to announce that the Georgia Division is now in the perishable food business.  Because of generous donations, we installed two-40 foot cold storage containers behind our main warehouse. Small Gifts give Much Hope

Who says SMALL givings can't make a BIG difference?  Generous school children and families from Peoria Academy collected food on a cold November day to benefit those we serve at MFB. ISU Volunteers at Bloomington

The staff at the IL State Univ Student Counseling Center spent part of their staff training at the Bloomington warehouse building pre-load pallets to be used for the September Distribution Week.  Due to their efforts they built over 20 pair of pallets getting us past half way to the total sets of pallets required for the week,  Thanks to a great job by all of you!

Midwest Food Bank Helps Victims of Tornado in Oklahoma

Midwest Food Bank has responded to a request from The Salvation Army and is sending family food boxes to victims of the tornado in Oklahoma.    A family food box contains food and personal care products for a family of four for four or five days.  The first two loads of boxes were delivered Thursday morning with additional loads expected to leave next week.  Each semi trailer holds 750 boxes.  The food bank is …
