On January 21, Midwest Food Bank’s Peoria division gathered staff, volunteers, and community partners for a meaningful milestone—a newly wrapped grocery rescue box truck that expands food relief capacity across Central Illinois.
The morning event welcomed grant partners and core volunteers to celebrate a vehicle that will help rescue more surplus groceries and deliver them to partner agencies serving families in need. Light refreshments and brief remarks were followed by photos and media interviews.
This purchase was made possible through the generous 2025 grant support from Impact Central Illinois, whose investment strengthens local food rescue infrastructure and supports long-term hunger relief efforts. The new truck increases efficiency, improves food safety, and allows volunteers to serve with greater consistency and care.
