When needs in Hartford grew unexpectedly this season, many community members and partners reached out looking for ways to offer additional support. Working together with Fishers of Men in Hartford, Midwest Food Bank New England coordinated an emergency food distribution to help meet that rising demand.
A total of 2,086 cases, or 14,160 pounds of food, were delivered for this event. Families received a variety of items, with each household walking away with ready to eat protein, a starch, and vegetables to help provide immediate meals.
Around 200 people were served that day. Any remaining goods were safely stored and used in the days that followed, ensuring nothing was wasted and more families received the support they needed.
We are grateful for every partner and volunteer who helped make this timely response possible.
