As Midwest Food Bank East Africa continues expanding school feeding initiatives across Kenya, Operations Manager Godwin Matswa has played a key role in helping move the work forward through strong partnerships, logistics coordination, and a deep commitment to serving communities.
Godwin has been instrumental in the development of the division’s growing partnership with Kenya’s Ministry of Education and Soy Afric Ltd., helping launch pilot school feeding programs across Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Kwale, and Mombasa counties. These efforts are designed to combat malnutrition, improve student concentration, and support healthier outcomes for children in public schools.
At the center of the initiative is Nutridence, a nutrient-dense grain meal made with rice, dehydrated beans, soy chunks, vitamins, and minerals. Through these school feeding programs, students receive meals that support both physical development and academic performance.
Godwin’s leadership has helped coordinate meetings with county leaders, school officials, healthcare representatives, and community partners to ensure the program launches effectively and sustainably. From planning sessions to on-site visits, he has remained closely connected to the operational details that help turn vision into action.
His passion for the mission is reflected not only in the programs themselves, but also in the way he communicates about the work. In one recent post, Godwin shared, “We are committed to building a healthier future generation.” That commitment continues to guide the expansion of school feeding efforts throughout Kenya.
Beyond the pilot programs, Godwin also helps oversee broader food distribution efforts across East Africa. Whether coordinating late-night produce pickups, supporting community pantry deliveries, or helping organize fundraising partnerships like the inaugural Swing to Feed golf tournament, he consistently works to connect resources with communities in need.
His work reflects the heart behind Midwest Food Bank East Africa’s mission: building partnerships that create lasting impact while helping provide hope, nutrition, and dignity for vulnerable families and children.
As these school feeding initiatives continue to grow, leaders like Godwin are helping ensure the work remains rooted in collaboration, compassion, and practical support for communities across Kenya.
