Moving into a new home comes with plenty of expenses. A new partnership between Midwest Food Bank Florida and Habitat for Humanity of Lee and Hendry Counties is helping families begin that next chapter with one important space already stocked, the pantry.
Through the partnership, Midwest Food Bank Florida recently provided food and household essentials for its first Habitat home in Southwest Florida.
“Buying a home is one of the most important purchases a family will ever make, and it comes with a lot of sacrifice, hard work, and hope,” said Sharon Salazar, Habitat’s Director of Family Support. “We are so grateful for this partnership with Midwest Food Bank because it allows our families to begin this new chapter with something as meaningful as a full pantry, helping ensure that when they receive the keys to their home, they also feel supported, cared for, and ready to build their future.”
The partnership brings together two nonprofits serving families throughout Lee and Hendry counties. As future Habitat homeowners prepare for their new homes, Midwest Food Bank Florida can help provide food and essentials to make the transition a little easier.
For the first participating homeowner, that meant opening the door to a new home with a stocked pantry waiting inside.
