Ongoing conflict in South Sudan has led to a deepening food crisis, with millions facing limited access to consistent meals.
According to recent assessments, the number of people affected continues to grow, placing increased pressure on communities already navigating difficult conditions.
In response, Midwest Food Bank worked alongside trusted partners to deliver emergency food assistance into affected areas. Four trucks carrying 112 tonnes of food were sent from Kenya into South Sudan, reaching more than 15,000 people. Those served include refugees, displaced individuals, hospital patients, and children in orphan care.
Relief efforts extended to multiple locations, including settlement camps, hospitals, and community centers where food shortages are most severe. In some areas, limited access to food has contributed to worsening health conditions, particularly among children and those already vulnerable due to illness or displacement.
This response reflects both urgency and coordination, ensuring that food reached communities as quickly as possible. At the same time, it highlights the scale of need that still remains. In several locations, access challenges and ongoing instability continue to limit how far relief can go.
Beyond the immediate delivery of food, these efforts also created moments of connection, care, and encouragement for those navigating ongoing hardship.
The situation in South Sudan remains critical, and continued support will be essential in the months ahead as conditions evolve.
