Midwest Food Bank Indiana received two bus loads (you read that right, two bus loads!) of donated food and non-perishable items in from IndyGo.
In mid-December, IndyGo, the largest public transportation provider in the state, had a day when fares were waived if riders donated a canned food item or other non-perishable item. Their riders responded in a big way and MFB Indiana received the two bus loads just in time for holiday distributions.
“Here at IndyGo we know the importance of giving back to our community,” says Inez Evans, president and CEO.
The Christmas and holiday season is a time when Midwest Food Bank has an increased need for food items and the pandemic added to that need in 2020.
“It is such a blessing to see the various ways IndyGo and others have stepped up to help in such a time as this,” says John Whitaker, Executive Director, MFB Indiana.
