At Easter this year, children in Nairobi, Kenya, received food and special treats from Kapu Africa. The food was a way for MFB to assist a partnering agency in its work with orphans and vulnerable children.
“Elroi Children’s Home became our partner in 2021,” says Christine Mutsoli, Executive Director of Kapu Africa. “Our Easter donation brought tremendous joy to the children and reminded them that they are loved.”
Through empowerment programs, Elroi Children’s Home provides hope and restoration to children, youth, and women. They want to raise the voices of the voiceless by giving them hope through spiritual nourishment.
Currently, the home is fostering 34 children who are orphaned or neglected. Some children have been rescued from female genital mutilation and early marriages. The children are provided shelter, clothing, food, medical care, and education.
“The children are allowed to explore, develop and nurture their talents as we prepare them for the world of work. They are given a platform to acquire skills in garment making, briquette making, and environmental conservation,” says Susan Njuguna, founder of Elroi Children’s Home. “All of this work is anchored in serving humanity to glorify the word of God and give hope.”
The home also has Elroi Outreach Mission which supports over 30 elderly people in the slum, impoverished widows, and HIV-positive women in Nairobi County. These people receive food rations each month.
