Operating across Kenya and surrounding regions brings unique challenges, including the physical distance between many of our supporters and the communities being served. To help bridge that gap, Kapu Africa, the East Africa division of Midwest Food Bank, hosts bi-annual webinars designed to bring people together, share updates from the field, and celebrate the growing impact being made through partnerships across the region.
On May 5, a day many Americans associate with Cinco de Mayo celebrations and Mexican traditions, Kapu Africa offered a different international perspective by inviting supporters into the ongoing work happening throughout Kenya.
The webinar highlighted stories of food distribution, community partnerships, and the practical ways support is reaching vulnerable families. Viewers heard directly from leaders involved in the work and gained a closer understanding of the challenges communities face, as well as the hope created through consistent food assistance and compassionate partnership.
More than just an update, the webinar served as a reminder that hunger relief is deeply connected across borders. Supporters who may never physically visit East Africa still play an important role in helping extend care, dignity, and nourishment to thousands of families.
As Kapu Africa continues expanding its reach, opportunities like these help strengthen the connection between donors, volunteers, partners, and the communities being served.
