On Thursday, February 5, 2026, Mary Rigg Neighborhood Food Pantry held a bread-breaking ceremony to mark its move into a new, expanded space. Neighbors, partners, and donors attended to see the facility and understand what this change means for the community.
Mary Rigg Food Pantry, based in Indianapolis, has partnered with Midwest Food Bank for eleven years. Together, they have focused on increasing access to food for families facing ongoing need. The expanded space allows the pantry to store and distribute more food, including fresh and nutritious items. It also improves how the pantry serves guests by creating a more functional and accessible environment.
During the event, staff shared a surprise news, that the expansion project has been fully funded at $862,000. This support came from donors and community partners who made the project possible.
This expansion increases the pantry’s capacity, but the need for food assistance continues. Many families in the area still rely on consistent access to food resources.
We continue to support Mary Rigg Food Pantry as part of its broader effort to address food insecurity. Their partnership helps strengthen distribution and ensures resources reach local communities.
Midwest Food Bank congratulates Mary Rigg Neighborhood Food Pantry on this milestone and values the continued partnership to serve families in the community!
