MFB Florida responds to Hurricane Idalia

The day after Hurricane Idalia struck Florida’s Big Bend area, Midwest Food Bank Florida wasted no time responding. They dispatched truckloads of food and water, totaling over 335,000 pounds, into the disaster zone. Their commitment to aiding in the long-term recovery effort is unwavering.

As a trusted frontline disaster relief partner for organizations such as the Salvation Army, State of Florida Mass Care, Farm Share, Red Cross, and others, Midwest Food Bank Florida is acutely aware of the pressing needs. They anticipate the demand for essentials like canned meats, fruits, and vegetables, as well as shelf-stable milk, cereal, and high-protein snacks.

Scot Buss, the Marketing and Development Manager of Midwest Food Bank Florida, acknowledges the devastation caused by Idalia, saying, “We’ve been through this before with Hurricane Ian, and we understand the challenges faced by those affected. We stand ready, willing, and able to support the communities impacted by Idalia’s aftermath.”
