Safety is a priority for MFB Florida

There are many moving parts, people, and equipment during food distribution days at the Midwest Food Bank Florida warehouse.
MFB staff ensure that food is ready and that volunteers and staff are ready to safely accomplish the goal of meeting the needs of our food partners. MFB is committed to safety training so everyone is prepared for these busy warehouse days.

“The compact space of the Florida warehouse presents unique challenges,” says Scot Buss, MFB Florida’s Marketing and Development Manager. “The close quarters require heightened vigilance and adherence to safety protocols to prevent any potential injuries.”

To ensure a secure working environment, MFB has a mandatory policy for CPR, forklift, and pallet jack certifications for its staff and lead volunteers. Those certifications are renewed every two years.

“This dedication not only protects our staff and volunteers from harm but also fosters a culture of preparedness, where everyone feels confident in their ability to handle any situation that may arise,” says Scot

MFB remains sustainable because of the many volunteers generously giving their time and talents. The safety of our volunteers and everyone that enters the warehouse is a priority to MFB.
Across the MFB organization, there are 800 volunteers for every paid MFB staff member. Click here to learn how you can help.
