Community partnerships offer great benefits to Midwest Food Bank and those we serve. MFB Morton recently received two separate grants that assist in day-to-day operations.
The first was a $1,500 grant from the Morton Community Foundation. The mission of the Morton Community Foundation is to improve the quality of life for Morton area residents, now and for generations to come. The grant was used for commercial ceiling fans. Those fans were then installed, without charge, by retired electricians.
“Our volunteers are very thankful for the fans as they provide cooler temperatures in the warehouse while they are working,” says Lisa Martin, MFB Morton executive director. “We strive to offer a safe and comfortable environment for volunteers.”
MFB also received a grant from Compeer Financial’s Fund for Rural America. Grants from this fund support initiatives and organizations whose work enriches agriculture and rural America, aligning with Compeer Financial’s mission. The grant was used to purchase equipment used for an upgraded inventory system. MFB continues to improve processes with inventory, and equipment is an important part of that goal. Compeer Financial is a member-owned farm credit cooperative that serves and supports agriculture and rural communities.
