This pantry serves about 100 families from East Hartford and Manchester weekly, and some people drive 25 miles to access the pantry. Crossroads is located in a church and has about 15 volunteers, says Amy Rivera, food pantry coordinator.
The pantry has been providing food for several years but a little more than four years ago started weekly distributions. The need in the area continues to grow.
“The partnership with Midwest Food Bank is a real blessing,” Amy says. “They keep our shelves filled with a variety of food, especially with the food shortages and the food costs.”
“We are grateful to partner with Crossroads and experience the blessing of a shared mission,” says Jan Young, MFB New England executive director.
