Michael Andretti Foundation hosts MFB Indiana

On May 15, the Michael Andretti Foundation invited Midwest Food Bank Indiana to use the Andretti Autosport Gasoline Alley at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. It was an opportunity to say “Thank you” to some donors and sponsors just a few weeks before the Indy 500.

About 65 people joined us for a practice day at the track. The day started with a ‘meet and greet’ with Marco Andretti, Mario’s grandson, on the 50th anniversary of Mario’s Indy 500 victory. The Andrettis were our hosts and took us and our guests on tours of the garage where we could see some of their cars being worked on.

Our relationship with the Andrettis started with a turkey giveaway five years ago and has been growing ever since. They offered the use of their garage for an event this fall and have mentioned other fundraising efforts they can collaborate with us on. MFB Indiana appreciates the Andrettis and is thankful for their heart for those struggling with food insecurity.
