In 2011, Bloomington, Illinois-based Midwest Food Bank, stepped out in faith and purchased two empty buildings on four acres in Peachtree City, Georgia. In October of that year, MFB Georgia began serving the 9 area food pantries. Today, we distribute food monthly to over 300 non-profit organizations in six states. The Lord answered our prayer to help those suffering food insecurity in Georgia and beyond.
Eight years later, we are embarking on a campaign to serve our communities even better. With the goal of improving the nutritional quality of the food we offer, we ask your help.
What it is
We have a unique opportunity to repurpose 11,000 square feet of warehouse and office space. With your help, we will build a large capacity freezer and cooler. The plan includes creating a gathering space as away to give back to our community and thank the more than 3,500 volunteers who serve here annually.
Freezer and cooler (Phase 1)
MFB Georgia often has to reject offered loads of fresh or frozen food due to a lack of storage space. The planned units will be able to hold 12 truckloads of nutritious produce and other perishable food. Nutritious food is a blessing to those we serve.
Community gathering space (Phase 2)
We hope to share our facility our volunteers and community. The 3,000 sq. ft. gathering space will offer a place to meet and serve together. It will be available for businesses, civic and church groups and families to use, free of charge.
Facilities Upgrades and Maintenance
In addition to the above projects, there are smaller upgrades and maintenance costs we hope to cover.
