Dear Kapu Africa Team,
We write to you with deep gratitude and joy to express our sincere thanks for your generous gift of nutritious food to Tumaini Baptist Church in Ngomeni, Malindi. Your partnership has met a critical need in a community facing immense challenges, and we want you to know the impact of your kindness.
Ngomeni is a region marked by low literacy, high school dropout rates, widespread unemployment, and severe poverty. Many households cannot afford more than one meal a day. It is also a known transit area for hard drugs, including heroin, making children especially vulnerable. The church is located in a predominantly Muslim area, where many families rely on faith communities for food and basic needs support.

Seeing these realities, the women of Tumaini Baptist Church refused to stand by. They noticed children roaming—especially on weekends when schools are closed—searching for food and becoming easy targets for drug peddlers. Instead of complaining, these mothers chose to become part of the solution. When they reached out for help with porridge flour, Kapu Africa answered the call.
December 21st, 2025, is a day we will never forget. By 6:00 a.m., women had already gathered at the church compound. Some carried firewood, others water on their heads, cups in their buckets, and large cooking pots balanced with care. Everyone brought something. Their mission was one: to launch the porridge feeding program.
There were tears of joy, ululation, singing, and dancing as the women rejoiced over what the Lord had done. Children sat quietly waiting—some with very little energy, having not eaten since the day before. When the porridge was ready, they lined up patiently. Older siblings held the hands of younger ones. Some brought cups from home. As they were served, they sat quietly and sipped.

From a short distance, we saw more children arriving. The village had awakened to the need. Even neighbors who do not attend the church came, and they too were welcomed and served. By the time the church service began, 55 children had received a warm, nourishing meal. Slowly, some children began to run and play again, while others—still regaining strength—rested quietly.
What can we say but thank you?
Your gift of six sacks of porridge flour will allow Tumaini Baptist Church to feed children every Sunday until the beginning of May—a total of 17 Sundays. Our goal is to reach 100 children each week, meaning up to 1,700 child encounters with nourishment, love, and the gospel. Even if it is the same children attending, they will hear the gospel and experience the love of Christ seventeen times.
This outreach will also reach homes. Assuming an average of four children per household, at least 25 families will be impacted regularly. The church will be able to visit homesteads, thank parents for sending their children, and engage in meaningful gospel conversations. You can imagine the ripple effect—entire villages touched because you chose to help.
This program also empowers the women of the church to lead. It brings them together for service, growth in Christ, and active participation in the Great Commission. Above all, it allows the church to live out the biblical mandate to feed the hungry, and one day they will hear the words of Jesus in Matthew 25:40:
“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
Thank you, Kapu Africa, for showing mercy, kindness, and compassion—seeing as Jesus sees. We cannot wait to share how the Lord will continue to Change Their Stories because you gave.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Grace Around the World
For Tumaini Baptist Church
