Two Events, One Mission at Midwest Food Bank Georgia
Spring was in full swing—literally and figuratively—as Midwest Food Bank Georgia hosted two unforgettable events that brought the community together for one purpose: feeding families in need.
From the quiet focus of a golf green to the cheering crowds of a racecourse, both events offered participants a way to give back—and have fun doing it.
Miles for Midwest 5K | May 10, 2025
On a bright spring morning in Peachtree City, runners, walkers, volunteers, and sponsors gathered for the Miles for Midwest 5K. The event was a celebration of movement, community, and mission—raising support and awareness for hunger relief across Georgia.
Whether participants crossed the finish line with a sprint or a smile, every step helped push our work forward. Thanks to our dedicated volunteers, cheer squads, and runners of all ages, the day was filled with energy and encouragement.
A special thank you goes out to Cornerstone Partners Chick-fil-A and Cooper Lighting, whose sponsorship helped make the event possible. From race-day logistics to participant support, their generosity set the pace.
Fore Our Community Golf Classic | April 25, 2025
Just two weeks earlier, the community gathered at Braelinn Golf Course for the Fore Our Community Golf Classic, co-hosted by The Healing Bridge Clinic and Midwest Food Bank Georgia.
Under clear skies, golfers hit the greens not just for sport—but to support two organizations committed to wellness, dignity, and food access in Georgia. With a mix of new and returning teams, the day offered friendly competition, strong partnerships, and a shared commitment to giving back.

Out-Drive Hunger 2025 Tees Off a Season of Support in Morton
Under clear skies and surrounded by fresh greens, 140 golfers gathered on Friday, May 16, at Weaver Ridge Golf Club in Peoria for the annual Out-Drive Hunger Golf Classic hosted by Midwest Food Bank Morton. What followed was more than just a round of golf—it was a community coming together to drive real change for families facing hunger.
With a full course and many new teams joining this year, the event brought an infectious energy that showed just how ready people were to combine fun and philanthropy.
Golfers participated in a 4-person best ball scramble, with hole-in-one chances, games throughout the course, raffle drawings, and friendly competition—all in support of the food bank’s critical work.
Thanks to generous support from event sponsors Lighthouse GMC and the Sue Neihouser team, along with community partners like Chick-fil-A and Kameala’s Kreamery, participants were treated to lunch, snacks, and a sweet ending with complimentary ice cream.
“It was the perfect kickoff to golf season,” said one event volunteer. “But more importantly, it reminded all of us why we were here—because hunger doesn’t take a day off.”
Funds raised from the Golf Classic directly support Midwest Food Bank Morton’s disaster relief and food distribution programs, including the Tender Mercies meal initiative. As the designated disaster relief hub, this location plays a vital role in providing food during emergencies, such as hurricanes, floods, and wildfires—alongside its regular pantry partnerships.
By combining a day of play with a powerful mission, Out-Drive Hunger continues to make a lasting impact, one swing—and one meal—at a time.
We’re grateful to all our players, sponsors, and volunteers who helped make this day a success. Your participation fuels the work we do across the region—and beyond.
