On May 2, St. Matthew United Methodist Church held its annual All Daughters’ Luncheon for 60 church members.
For Rosemary G., the event almost became stressful. Rosemary has volunteered at the MFB AZ warehouse every Tuesday and Thursday for nearly 10 years. She also helps run the food pantry at St. Matthew. When she realized she did not have enough help for the luncheon, she reached out to a few fellow warehouse volunteers to see if anyone could spare a few hours.
She expected maybe one or two people. Instead, five missionaries and four college students showed up ready to help. The group jumped in wherever they were needed. They helped set up before guests arrived, served during the luncheon, and stayed afterward to help clean everything up.
Their support made the day easier for Rosemary and helped the event run smoothly for everyone who attended.
Afterward, Rosemary shared how much their help meant to her. “This team not only served, they also helped to clean up after. Honestly, I was so blessed. I can’t tell you how many compliments I received that day and at church on Sunday morning.”
It was a simple afternoon of people helping people, and a reminder that the relationships built through volunteer service often reach far beyond the warehouse walls.
