Snapshots from Sam’s

Sams Enlarge
By Sam Thompson, Executive Director, and Sammy Salinas, Operations Manager

At Midwest Food Bank Texas, every week brings new opportunities to serve, connect, and make a meaningful difference across our community. “Snapshots from Sam’s” offers a glimpse into the moments, both big and small, that define our mission in action.

Over the past month, we have seen firsthand the power of partnership. From long-standing agency relationships renewing their partnership with the Texas Division to new collaborations, it is clear that when organizations come together with a shared purpose, the impact multiplies. One of the greatest blessings of this work is watching food move efficiently from the warehouse into the hands of those who need it most, families, seniors, and children facing food insecurity across North Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana.

A recent highlight was the continued strengthening of the distribution model. With thoughtful planning, teamwork, and support from John Gast, Operations Manager from the Arizona Division, both the consistency and reach of deliveries have increased. This ensures partner agencies can count on not just food, but reliable support. Behind the scenes, this takes coordination, commitment, and a team that genuinely cares.

Sammy Salinas shares:

“Every pallet that leaves our warehouse represents hope. Our team works hard to make sure orders are correct, prompt, and handled with care. It is not just logistics; it is about serving people with dignity.”

Volunteer engagement has also continued to grow. Individuals, families, corporate teams, and community groups have stepped up in meaningful ways. Whether sorting food, packing boxes, or helping with distributions, their energy fuels the mission and reflects a shared commitment to serving others.

Another snapshot worth sharing is the tangible impact of generosity. Thanks to donors and supporters, the first quarter has shown strong results both financially and through the addition of new supporters. This multiplier effect is not just a number; it represents meals on tables and relief for families facing difficult choices.

Looking ahead, the focus remains on expanding reach while maintaining excellence in operations. The need continues, but so does the opportunity to respond with compassion, efficiency, and faith.

Thank you to everyone who continues to be part of this work. Whether through giving, volunteering, praying, or partnering, each contribution helps turn hunger into hope.
