On a Spring Saturday morning, 50 members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Islands Ward gathered at Midwest Food Bank Arizona to serve their community through hands-on volunteer work. In a single session, the group packaged 12,000 individual bags of crackers, all scheduled for distribution within the week.
This effort directly supports ongoing hunger relief programs across Arizona. Packaged snack items like these play a practical role in food distribution, helping fill gaps for families, children, and individuals who rely on consistent access to food.
The volunteer group brought energy and focus to the project, completing a high-volume packing effort in a short amount of time. Their work ensures that partner organizations receive ready-to-distribute food, reducing delays and increasing efficiency across the supply chain.

If these 12,000 snack bags were purchased at retail cost, the total would represent a significant financial investment for any nonprofit. Through volunteer service and product sourcing, these items can be prepared and distributed at a fraction of that cost, allowing more resources to reach more people.
Each bag also represents a direct point of support. Distributed through local partners, 12,000 snack bags can serve thousands of individuals, including children, families, and seniors who benefit from consistent, accessible food options throughout the week.
We thank the volunteers from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Islands Ward for serving with compassion and purpose. Their time and effort help extend care, strengthen community impact, and ensure food reaches those who need it most.
