Martin Luther King Jr. Day calls communities to move beyond remembrance and into service. At Midwest Food Bank of Texas, that call was answered through a new partnership grounded in faith and action.
Midwest Food Bank of Texas was blessed to partner with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Alliance Stake for a Day of Service honoring Dr. King’s legacy. More than 150 church members volunteered their time to help prepare food for families facing food insecurity across North Texas.
“Dr. King reminded us that faith is lived through service to others,” said Sam Thompson, Executive Director of Midwest Food Bank – Texas Division.“ We have been blessed by this partnership with the Alliance Stake as they put their faith into action. Their willingness to serve reflects Christlike love and will help bring hope and nourishment to families who need it most.”
Volunteers worked side by side sorting, packaging, and preparing food for distribution through Midwest Food Bank’s nonprofit partners. The day reflected Dr. King’s call to turn compassion into action while strengthening community bonds through fellowship and shared purpose.
Midwest Food Bank of Texas is grateful for this partnership and the generosity of the Alliance Stake as we work together to fight hunger and serve with love.
