I first would like to thank the Lord Jesus for another day and the ability to share, in part, my testimony. I was referred to The New Vision food bank by a dear friend who attends church there, during a time when I had recently stopped working.
There have been so many blessings that have come from the help and support of this family. Of course, the food has been a very big help to my son and me, but also the community of believers who have been able to pray for us, love on us, and help us.
About a year ago in September, I was in between jobs. I later went on to have my car repossessed, and I was waiting on the final paperwork for my divorce, which took 4 years. I was not receiving any help, and the bills kept coming. It was incredibly difficult.
The women prayed over me and my son. We were able to receive food and other items offered at the pantry and felt the warmth, love, and comfort of a family.
I have been able to focus on my son and our home more now that I know biweekly we have a place to go, especially when it comes to food security. It has helped me focus on more work from home opportunities. It has also strengthened my faith because I know I am not the only single parent or person who has endured a lot at once, but there is hope, and His name is Jesus.
I am incredibly thankful and so grateful for the staff who truly do not just see this as a job, but as ministry, to be the hands and feet of Jesus, especially right now in the world where love and hope are needed.
The gift to serve God’s people is not something they take lightly. The outpouring of love and reassuring compassion are just a few words of the gratitude I want to give to them.
