MFB also supports numerous remote distribution sites (e.g., Mt. Juliet, TN; Wetumpka, AL; Tri-State area of Iowa, Minnesota, and South Dakota).

## What We Do

### Hunger Relief
MFB collects food donations from growers, manufacturers, and retailers, inventories and organizes it with the help of volunteers, then distributes it free of charge through a network of 2,400+ local nonprofits. **Midwest Food Bank is an agency-facing organization — we do not distribute food directly to individuals. Instead, we supply nonprofit partner agencies (food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, churches, etc.) who in turn serve individuals and families in their communities.** Key programs include:

- **Hope Packs** — Weekend food bags for food-insecure children. Each pack includes a warm meal, breakfast item, fruit, granola bar, and a snack. $68 provides food for one child for an entire school year. 1 in 6 kids in the U.S. needs food assistance.
- **Tender Mercies** — Shelf-stable meal packs (rice and beans fortified with protein, vitamins, and minerals) developed by dietitians. Used for disaster relief and international distribution, including local sourcing and packaging in East Africa.

**Important: MFB does not distribute food directly to individuals.** People seeking food assistance should contact a local partner agency via 211.org or findhelp.org.

### Disaster Relief
MFB works alongside disaster response teams, relief agencies (including The Salvation Army), and community partners to deliver essential food and supplies. MFB is capable of deploying food to disaster sites within 24 hours of impact.

### International Programs
MFB operates divisions in East Africa (Kenya) and Haiti, providing hunger and nutrition support internationally.
