Making memories that count

Having a heart for the kingdom and his students, Craig Stickling, Counselor of Broadmoor Junior High School, brought a group of 40 students to Midwest Food Bank in Bloomington-Normal. In three hours, they bagged 1,500 pounds of cereal for individual agencies and families.

"I challenge our kids to really reflect on what they experienced so it hopefully becomes more than just a fun day, but a seed of opportunity and outreach for their future," said Craig.

This trip is always a highlight of their year. Craig has been bringing a group of students to MFB since 2007, and already has kids and teachers wanting to sign up for next year. Below are some Thank You notes from the students:

"Thank you for the amazing experience I'll never forget!" – Lindsey

"It was really fun!" -Gabe

"I am honored I got to experience volunteering and helping the food bank. At first, I thought we'd just organize food, but it was so much more than that. We created an assembly line, all worked as a team, and it was super fun! It's amazing to know we helped thousands of families in just three hours. I'm so happy to say I was a part of it, and that there are people like you in our country. This truly gave me hope for our future. Thank you." -Anonymous

"I appreciate what you do for those in need!" – Aaron

"Thank you so much for allowing our school to come and help bag cereal. I really had a blast scooping it up! After we ate, we connected more as a group, and it made me really happy. MFB showed me how much our community should work together. With only 40 people, we bagged 2,800 bags of cereal. Imagine if we were able to get a whole community! I really, really enjoyed spending time at your facility. Once again, thank you so much for allowing Broadmoor and I to help assist you." -Sierra

MFB is always happy to work with schools. We hope to create memorable experiences for the students to take with them for the rest of their lives. Those in need are blessed by these efforts, too.
