The work of Midwest Food Bank Florida is only possible by the grace of God and the assistance of an army of dedicated people. Generous donors provide the means to run the operation and procure food. Volunteers manage a number of tasks that would normally be done by paid staff. Our partner agencies take the food and place it in the hands of those in need, all free of charge.
To recognize and celebrate all of these people, MFB Florida held an appreciation luncheon on Saturday, November 9, 2019. A delicious lunch was catered by Mission BBQ, and desserts were generously donated by Nothing Bundt Cakes.
Pastor MarJoe Wooten from The Fort Myers Rescue Mission, an MFB Florida agency, spoke to the attendees. Pastor Wooten expressed how important MFB is to their mission, and what a difference everyone was making in the community.
The efforts of volunteer John Evans were recognized by Karl Steidinger, Executive Director of MFB Florida. John received a certificate of appreciation for volunteering over 1,100 hours in 2019, more than any other volunteer.
It was a time of sharing and fellowship. At MFB Florida, we are thankful for the efforts of so many wonderful people in the fight against food insecurity.
