The squash, tomatoes, green beans, and potatoes are just part of the harvest at St. Ann's Garden of Hope in Peoria.

The garden, part of the OSF Faith Community Nursing program, grows healthy food for people in the area so they can minister to them as a whole person - body, mind, and spirit.

Recently, MFB Morton was asked to be a part of the Wednesday food distribution at Garden of Hope. MFB provided Tender Mercies, a highly nutritious meal packaged at the Morton warehouse.

The weekly distribution also includes classes provided by the University of Illinois Extension.

"Everything the speaker was saying regarding nutrition and getting the proper amounts of protein, calcium, and other essential vitamins and minerals are provided in MFB's Tender Mercies meals," says Brent Reddish, operations manager in Morton.

Brent also shared how to cook Tender Mercies and how the fresh produce available from the garden can be added to Tender Mercies.

MFB has worked with registered dieticians to develop several recipes for Tender Mercies so recipients can create a variety of meals.
