Together. Stronger. That is how the Caterpillar Foundation approaches partnerships. The recent $256,000 donation from the Cat Foundation to Midwest Food Bank puts that call into action. The donation will be used 100 percent for the purchase of food for the Peoria and East Africa locations of MFB.

Locally, the donation will be used for produce and protein that is then given, free of charge, to local food pantries. In East Africa, the donation will be used for Tender Mercies - a nutritious meal packet. The Cat Foundation has historically supported the efforts of Midwest Food Bank. Since 2006, the Caterpillar Foundation has granted more than $1.7 million dollars to MFB.

"In addition to this donation, Caterpillar employees have a long history of volunteer service and personal donations to Midwest Food Bank," says Monica Scheuer, Executive Director of Midwest Food Bank Peoria. "We are so thankful for their investment in this community and beyond."

"Tender Mercies meals cost 15ยข to produce in Kenya" says Denny Mott, Executive Director of Midwest Food Bank East Africa. "These recent grants will allow us to serve more than 1 million meals to children in need of nutrition."

This ongoing support from Caterpillar is strengthened by the culture of volunteerism at Big Yellow. Cat employees have donated thousands of volunteers hours to MFB - many times helping distribute food to food pantries or preparing food for distribution.
