Midwest Food Bank Texas joined The Dallas Police Department, Paul Quinn College, David W Carter High School to provide a holiday food giveaway. The event was held on December 20 at Paul Quinn College.

Dallas police flooded the campus wearing smiles. They brought these groups together to serve an underserved and often forgotten population in East Oak Cliff. From 9 a.m. to noon, food and toys were given to people waiting in line.

"We wanted to provide food to this area which is located in a food desert," said James Farmer, Dallas Police Department Corporal.

"This is a wonderful opportunity to serve with those who are intimately involved in the Dallas community, says Rich Stoller, MFB Texas board member. "Working together, we can address the needs in our community as Jesus has taught us."

Mfb Texas provided over 10,000 pounds of food to distribute. Over 400 families received help.

"We're a big family of eight, and I'm very thankful for this. Very thankful," said Davis, a food recipient.

MFB Texas board member and Paul Quinn alumn Brooke Sims volunteered at the event. "The holiday food drive was a lovely collaborative effort of several organizations to share blessings with the community in time Christmas!" she said.

"I am particularly impressed with the youth that came out and worked so hard as they passed out food to their neighbors," said Rhonda Revels, MFB Texas Community Development Coordinator.

Others who participated in the collaboration include

Dallas Police Assistant Chief Angela Shaw, Judge Tammie Kemp, Constable Bill Gipson, the Dallas Marshals, and DART officers.
