COVID-19 created a disruption in the US food supply chain. Food producers and suppliers were unable to have food processed and transported. The USDA created the Farmers to Families Food Program to support US farmers and distributors and get that food to people that need it. The program has been authorized through the end of 2020.

Midwest Food Bank will continue to distribute the Farm to Family healthy food boxes to our partnering agencies across the United States. Food pantries are seeing up to a 50 percent increase in the number of people they are serving. These food boxes help fill that gap. Here is what some MFB partner agencies have to say about these nutritious food boxes:

"Our families love them because it gives them fresh dairy and produce, items they normally cannot afford to buy." -Ask and Ye Shall Receive, Peoria, IL

"Everyone is very thankful to receive these extra boxes with a lot of healthy choices and our pantry has been grateful to be able to supply them to our community." -First Baptist Church, Fairburn, GA

"The farm to family boxes has been God sent. They are easier to distribute and ready to go. The families love the meat products." -Pan de Vida Foundation, Gilbert, AZ

Midwest Food Bank has given 669,160 food boxes through August 2020.

Midwest Food Bank is thankful to be part of this USDA program. It dovetails perfectly with our effort to procure and distribute more nutritious food. To support the work of MFB, click here to donate today. Together we can bridge the gap between prosperity and poverty in our communities.
