The Midwest Food Bank in cooperation with the Salvation Army will assist in disaster relief in Baton Rouge Louisiana. Initially four semi loads of disaster relief and personal care items will be sent to help in the hurricane Isaac relief efforts.
The Midwest Food Bank is a faith based not for profit with locations in Indianapolis Indiana, Bloomington and Peoria Illinois and Atlanta Georgia. The Indianapolis location is currently distributing food and relief to over 50 thousand individuals monthly in 47 counties in Indiana through 250 faith based and not for profit agencies. This year the Indianapolis location will distribute nearly 11 million dollars of food and relief in Indiana.
If individuals want to volunteer or donate specific disaster relief items to assist in the Hurricane Isaac relief efforts please contact the Midwest Food Bank at 317-786-8980 or email@example.com. Individuals or businesses can drop off specific disaster relief items at our location at 6450 S. Belmont Avenue Indianapolis, In 46217 between the hours of 8am—5pm Monday through Friday.
Below is a listing of the specific items needed for disaster relief boxes.
Midwest Food Bank Disaster Relief Boxes
*A box includes:
Bible or a disaster booklet entitled "When Your World Changes"
1 box of cereal or bag of 5-6 oatmeals or poptarts or 4-5 small cereals
1 jar of peanut butter
3 cans of vegetables
2 cans of soup
2 -3 packs of ramen noodles
1 can of pork and beans or a canned pasta (with meat)
1 can of meat
2-3 boxes of mac & cheese
1 roll of toilet paper
1 roll of paper towels
2-3 candy bars
4-6 granola bars
