Since the introduction of the new Haiti division late last year, there have been many requests from U.S. sponsored organizations operating in Haiti for food to assist their various ministries in Haiti.

In early January, MFB Morton division's hand and automated Tender Mercies packing moved into high gear, packaging nearly 22 tons of Tender Mercies (59,400 packages containing nearly 250,000 servings) for shipment to Haiti. This load was then trucked to MFB Florida, transferred to a sea-going container, and arrived in Port au Prince, Haiti on January 25. This was MFB Haiti's milestone, inaugural shipment.

This first load of Tender Mercies is being distributed in partnership with Double Harvest, a faith based organization located east of Port au Prince that has had active ministries in Haiti since 1978.

After a very positive "test" introduction of Tender Mercies to select schools and an orphanage in the Croix de Bouquets area, broader distribution has begun and over 2,000 vulnerable Haitian children are already receiving this very nutritious and tasty meal.

In early March, a MFB team representing the Haiti division will be back in Haiti to:

1. Observe and assess the in-progress distribution of Tender Mercies out of Double Harvest.

2. Establish plans for additional distribution to other locations in Haiti (Les Cayes, Jeremie and Cap Haitien).

3. Assess options and establish a strategy for an initial proof-of-concept of in-country sourced/produced food.

It is a blessing to MFB to be able to offer hope and help to these impoverished children.
