One of many volunteer positions at Midwest Food Bank is the role of Advisory Board members. These people share their expertise and time to help shape and direct the local MFB location they serve.
Midwest Food Bank Morton welcomes four new advisory board members - Sue Neihouser, Justin Pflederer, Javier Salazar, and Mary Staple. Their commitment to their families and serving their communities makes them a perfect fit for this role at MFB.
Sue Neihouser - Sue moved to Morton with her husband, Jeff, in 2009. They have three children and three grandchildren. She has worked in real estate since 1991 and is currently full-time for RE/MAX Traders Unlimited. "I love helping out in our community and telling my clients about the great work of Midwest Food Bank and how they can get involved," says Sue. She and Jeff have been part of MFB efforts with food distribution in New York City and Chicago.
Justin Pflederer - Justin and his wife, Kelli, live in Tremont and have five children. He has been at Caterpillar for 25 years and is a finance transformation manager and a CPA. His work there has encompassed accounting, lean manufacturing, value chain processes, and pricing. He is involved in mentoring, coaching, and finance professional development within Caterpillar. He also serves on the executive management team of Connect Church and coaches youth travel sports. "I am honored to be a board member for the Morton location and support the vision and mission of MFB," says Justin.
Javier Salazar - Javier and his wife, Mayra, have three children and moved to Morton in 2010. He is the president of ICAFe Companies, where he has worked for the last 24 years. ICAFe provides paint solutions and applications for general industry. "As a family, we have always tried to serve God wherever he sends us and help the community with whatever we have in our hands," says Javier. "After knowing the history and origin of MFB, and how God had led the direction and growth of it, we wanted to be part of it."
Mary Staple - Mary and her husband, Jon, have four children and a foster child and live in Congerville. She is a physician for OSF Community Care and through this work has seen food insecurity up close in this area. "The alignment with the work at Midwest Food Bank is so clear," says Mary. "That's why I wanted to be more involved."
These four new advisory board members join current members Mike Stratton, Drew Leman, and Billy Daniel.
