Dear Midwest Food Bank Supporters and Volunteers,
When disasters impact our world MFB is always asked if we are supporting the victims and their loved ones. Often we have to wait for instructions from national disaster coordinators before the trucks of relief can be put on the road.
Sunday, November 17th a tornado hit our own state and communities! Sunday afternoon Peoria Midwest Food Bank delivered a full truckload of water and nonperishable food items to a mobilized team of people supporting those in need. The truck unloaded at the Crossroads church in Washington, Illinois. Crossroads church has opened it's doors to receive victims that have lost their homes and is also being utilized as a feeding and relief center. The supplies will be used in the facility and also delivered to those in need throughout the community.
Midwest Food Bank was thankful for the numerous local residents and fire departments that helped unload the many pallets of MFB supplies that were utilized from our warehouse inventory.
Mike Hoffman, the National MFB Disaster Coordinator from MFB Bloomington Division was on the ground surveying the damage and pointed the MFB truck to the unloading site.
The devastation is beyond belief and we are confident that continued support may be needed in the weeks to come and MFB stands ready to supply the Illinois communities.
Midwest Food Bank disaster relief program and efforts would not be possible without all of you supporting and standing together for those that are in need. Thank you for loving your neighbors!
