Why It Matters
The Thanksgiving season can be especially challenging for families facing food insecurity. Through partnerships across Long Island, Queens, Spanish Harlem, and Brooklyn, Midwest Food Bank volunteers help provide food, hope, and meaningful connections to those in need.
This outreach is about more than meals. It is an opportunity to come alongside local organizations that serve their communities year-round and help extend their impact during one of the busiest seasons of the year.
As someone who has supported this mission before, you understand how a simple act of generosity can help bring encouragement and practical assistance to families across New York City.
How It Works
Volunteers serve alongside nonprofit and ministry partners throughout New York City, assisting with food distributions and community outreach efforts in multiple neighborhoods.
The weekend includes opportunities to:
• Serve at food distribution events across the city
• Partner with local churches and community organizations
• Encourage families during the Thanksgiving season
• Experience worship at Brooklyn Tabernacle on Sunday morning
• Connect with fellow volunteers who share a heart for service
