2023 is the 20th anniversary of Midwest Food Bank.

We gratefully honor our beginnings, celebrate our growth, and imagine the future.

"Don't turn your head and walk away if you see a need and have the resources to help."

David Kieser, MFB Founder, and National Board President, says that was the mindset their parents instilled into him and his siblings. It's the mindset that's driven the growth and impact of Midwest Food Bank over the last 20 years.

MFB Kieser brothersIn 2003, ten Bloomington-Normal nonprofit agencies put a request for donations out to the community. Feeling the Lord's leading, David and his brothers Bob and Paul assessed their resources and agreed to free up shed space on the farm and use their semis to pick up donated food. In 2003, the first loadout involved cars and vans pulling up to the farm shed.

"The God leading us had a lot bigger plan than we knew about then," David says. "The need was much bigger than we realized, so we researched ways to access loads of donated food and began learning what it means to run a food bank."

What does the future hold? "We will remain faithful in seeking God, letting Him lead, and being astonished at what He will do to meet needs in our world," says David.
