2016 Volunteers of the Year

Midwest Food Bank Bloomington is happy to announce the recipients of our "2016 Volunteer of the Year Award." The honor goes to Chris Stoffer and Steve Nolan. Volunteers who receive this recognition are selected by MFB management. They meet all of the requirements and responsibilities of being an MFB volunteer and go beyond by seeking other ways to help. Their diligence signals a consistent desire to serve MFB and those who benefit from our services.

An attorney at State Farm, Chris Stoffer is a frequent team leader for evening volunteer groups. "I like supporting the mission of Midwest Food Bank and meeting all of the volunteers," says Chris. "I get to tell the story of MFB and see the joy people get from giving of their time and abilities."

Chris also volunteers at her church, St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Bloomington. She helps in the church's outreach efforts, by finding ways to support local charities and social service agencies. MFB groups led by Chris often get to enjoy hearing her husband play his bagpipes.

"MFB is a great place to volunteer, agrees Steve Nolan, a retired State Farm employee. "People are able to help regardless of their age and ability."

Steve is a retired State Farm Employee and is a tireless MFB volunteer. He also donates his time at the food pantry of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Steve has the rare opportunity of seeing the food sent from MFB get into the hands of the less fortunate. His wife, Nancy, is always at MFB with him. "We volunteer as a way of giving back for the many blessings we've been given," says Steve. And as for Nancy's support, Steve acknowledges, "I couldn't do it without her."

Chris and Steve will have their names added to the Volunteer of the Year plaque at MFB. Please join us in congratulating them for this honor, and thanking them for their efforts on behalf of those in need.
