Caring Community Gives Thanks

Midwest Food Bank and Home Sweet Home Ministries completed another successful year of Give Thanks. With the generous support of the community, we collected enough turkeys and meal items to impact nearly 10,000 individuals.

Over 200 volunteers distributed the turkeys and meal boxes on November 18th and 20th at Midwest Food Bank. With the combined distribution dates, 2,416 households were served.

"It makes your Thanksgiving a little better knowing that you've helped others have a great Thanksgiving, too," adds Mike Hoffman, Midwest Food Bank's Director of Operations. "We received a lot smiles and praises as drivers pulled up. We can't thank the community enough for helping us provide meals for those in need again this year."

Midwest Food Bank and Home Sweet Home Ministries would like to emphasize that none of this could be done without the support of hundreds of people in the Bloomington-Normal area. We are truly blessed by the community's outreach.

"We are so grateful to be in a community that cares," says Matt Burgess, Home Sweet Home Ministries' Chief Operating Officer. "Give Thanks is truly a community based initiative. We had several community partners involved including Hy-Vee, Schnuck's, and Great Plains Media. With Give Thanks, we see the best of people, we see the best of the community."
