Eagle Scout project at MFB Morton
The daily task of walking to the mailbox got a lot easier thanks to a local Boy Scout.
Alistair Jack, a Boy Scout in Morton, approached MFB about how he could complete an Eagle Scout project. After discussions with staff, it was decided that a sidewalk connecting the parking lot to the mailbox would be helpful and useful. The project involved creating a plan, compiling materials and tools and getting mentorship from concrete experts. MFB Morton board member Billy Daniel and volunteers Jim Steffen and Rodney Schuck offered guidance and expertise.
As part of the project, Alistair had to get funding for the project, too. He involved local scouts to help with the labor of removing the sod. "Getting to see the project done was definitely the most rewarding part because there is something about bringing your project together that makes you proud of your work," Alistair said.
Alistair and his Dad, Nick, have volunteered on several occasions at Midwest Food Bank, Morton and have helped organize scout groups to volunteer, too.
