MFB Morton volunteer fills many roles
During the last ten years, Brittany Parker and her husband have started a family and put down some roots. In 2020, when the youngest of her four children went to kindergarten, she decided it was time to start giving back to her community.
"I wanted to contribute to the community and found Midwest Food Bank's mission to be authentic and genuine," says Brittany.
She started volunteering on the days food pantries come to receive food. She says the physical work of loading the food into their vehicles was seeing Midwest Food Bank in action. Since then, she has also assisted at the front desk to welcome food pantries as they arrive.
"I would encourage anyone interested in volunteering to call and ask questions," says Brittany. "I think people would be surprised at the different levels of involvement available.
Besides participating in distribution in Morton, Brittany also helps MFB central team staff when needed.
When she is not at MFB, Brittany manages the family household and plans to step back into nursing sometime soon. She enjoys gardening and running, and learning new things.
