Volunteer opportunities abound!
Are looking for a way to use your gifts? We are seeking a number of volunteers for roles needing some specific skills.

Design and Communication Assistant
Attributes: Creative, sensibility for color and design.
Time Commitment: At least twice per month, no maximum.

A Design and Communication Assistant works within the MFB branding guidelines to bring fresh design ideas for print and electronic projects. Knowledge of the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite is a must (particularly InDesign, PhotoShop, and Illustrator). Writing, editing, and proofreading skills are a plus.

Responsibilities may include:
· Create attractive print projects (cards, brochures, signs, etc.).
· Work with staff from all MFB divisions, designing and revising to their needs.
· Communicate and collaborate with Communications Manager on projects.

Lead Volunteer

Attributes: Enthusiastic, able to connect with others, passionate about serving others.
Time Commitment: At least once or twice per month, maximum of three times per week, flexible scheduling.

Lead Volunteers are the face of Midwest Food Bank during the group's project time and are responsible for passionately sharing our mission through their leadership. While lead volunteers are encouraged to participate in the work being done, they will assume a role that allows them to bounce around and have conversations with all the participants.

Responsibilities may include:
· Preparing group project area
· Guide volunteers through sign-n, meaningful work, and sendoff.
· Lead with enthusiasm - energize and encourage.
· Clean up after completion of projects.

Local Store Pick-Up Driver

Attributes: Responsible, reliable, and polite.
Time Commitment: At least once per month, maximum of three times per week, flexible scheduling.

This role involves collecting donated food from local grocery stores. Each run includes one driver and one helper. These volunteers visit stores on a particular route in a safe and timely manner. They represent Midwest Food Bank in a professional and respectful manner. Local store pick-ups do require lifting from both the driver and helper. A typical run lasts approximately 2 – 3 hours.

Responsibilities may include:
· Drivers are required to have an A, B, or C license
· Drive to and collect donations from each store on the route
· Properly check-in and weigh donated food at MFB
· Clean out trucks after use
· Training provided

CDL Driver

Attributes: Flexible, patient, attentive.
Time Commitment: Minimum once per month, no maximum, flexible scheduling.

This role helps us to acquire more food to distribute to those in need by picking up and delivering loads of food. All of our drivers operate on a volunteer basis. We have both day and overnight trip opportunities. As the title implies, this role does require a CDL license.

Responsibilities may include:
· Safely drive an MFB truck to the specified location to pick up/drop off the load, then return back
· Complete electronic logs
· Maintain the vehicle while on the road
· Ensure the cleanliness of truck interiors while on the road
· Maintain CDL requirements and required documentation

Vehicle Lane Lead
Attributes: Friendly, a good teacher, patient, ability to delegate.
Time Commitment: At least once a month, no maximum, flexible scheduling.

This role helps introduce and guide new distribution volunteers through the vehicle loading process. Lane Leads oversee teams for efficiency, accuracy, and safety. This role ensures the vehicle lanes are clean and safe.

Responsibilities may include:
· Meet with new volunteers and explain the distribution process.
· Share safety instructions.
· Guide the vehicle loaders to load the products safely and efficiently, maximizing the space to accommodate as much product as possible.
· Refill pallets of drinks on the distribution line
