Pennsylvania’s Charitable Food Tax Credit Program: Now Open!
The Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development has opened the 2025 application window for the Neighborhood Assistance Charitable Food Program, a tax credit opportunity designed to support local hunger relief organizations.
The program provides a 65% state tax credit to eligible businesses that contribute to a recognized food distribution nonprofit, such as Midwest Food Bank Pennsylvania.
"It's a win-win opportunity for businesses and Midwest Food Bank because it's not often when you can decide exactly how your tax dollars are used," says Kathy Anderson-Martin, Executive Director of Midwest Food Bank Pennsylvania. "The contributions from local businesses we received through the Charitable Food Tax Credit program last year enabled us to rescue and distribute over one half million pounds of food—a huge benefit for our partners and people in need."
How to Get Involved
If your business wants to participate, it starts with a simple letter. Just let us know how much you plan to donate, and we'll include it in our application to the state—due by the end of May.
Once the donation is approved, you give directly to Midwest Food Bank Pennsylvania and get 65% of that amount back as a credit on your state taxes.
It's a practical way to support local hunger relief, giving you more say in where your tax dollars go—right back into the community.
