Tender Mercies updates

Tender Mercies is a low-cost, highly nutritious meal consisting of rice, pre-cooked pinto beans, fortified chicken seasoning and a soy protein. Here are a number of recent developments with our Tender Mercies program:

New logo, new look!
Tender Mercies has a new logo and bag design. Please have a look in the photo below. Labels with the new logo are placed on bags to be used at meal packing events. It's a new look, but the Tender Mercies program remains committed to providing nutritious, low-cost meals for those in need.

Tender Mercies Packing Events
Since February about 500 volunteers have attended events to pack MFB's Tender Mercies Meal packets. In total about 64,000 meals were packed by these willing volunteers. In Morton, students at Bethel Lutheran packed 5,280 meals. Thank you to Bethel Lutheran for sponsoring and volunteering. Is your group interested in hosting a packing event? Tender Mercies - Chicken Tacos
With the help of a local dietician, Midwest Food Bank has created recipes using the Tender Mercies meal packet. Tender Mercies Chicken Tacos is one of those delicious recipes. These recipe ideas are a way that MFB can help add value to the food pantries that we serve. Bon Appetit!

New, larger Tender Mercies bag developed
Some Midwest Food Bank partner agencies serve meals of Tender Mercies to large groups. For these times, individual bags are not very convenient. MFB has developed a bulk bag that makes 24 servings of Tender Mercies. Our hope is to offer this to schools, soup kitchens and other feeding programs.

Midwest Food Bank is thankful to offer this nutritious, inexpensive food option that tastes delicious. We will continue to look at ways to improve and utilize it moving forward.
