Update from MFB Pennsylvania

Midwest Food Bank Pennsylvania has seen first-hand the increasing need for food in our neighborhoods and communities. MFB Pennsylvania officially started distribution in January of this year and in one month, the value of the food distributed increased 80%. In February alone, the value of the food distributed equaled $475,000. We anticipate this number to continue to grow and we stand ready to serve the growing number of agencies in our area looking for support.

Our wonderful agency partners are working hard to provide enough food and supplies to those in need. Midwest Food Bank Pennsylvania serves as another "grocery store" for these agencies to secure food supply from. We are committed to supporting and supplementing their inventory of food and product offerings so they can fulfill their mission in our local neighborhoods and communities.

On March 12, 2021, we celebrated the official launch of our location with a ribbon-cutting, sponsored by the Harrisburg Regional Chamber. The event welcomed distinguished guests Congressman Scott Perry and Representative Andrew Lewis as well as our board of directors, agency partners, and our volunteers. We are grateful and blessed to be serving the Keystone state and beyond. The event was also covered by Fox43 and WGAL 8. Special thank you to all who attended and helped us to prepare for this momentous occasion.

Our volunteers are the "secret sauce" to Midwest Food Bank's operations. Because of our volunteers, over 99¢ of every dollar donated goes to our programs and services. This enables us to turn every dollar donated into $30 worth of food. We have been blessed with a number of volunteers to help us with special projects. Some of our volunteer groups included Central PA Women in Construction and Harrisburg Christian School National Honor Society. They sorted, stacked, cleaned, distributed, and helped us complete a number of projects in the warehouse. If your church, scout group, sports team, or family wants to volunteer, click here.

Spring is in the air and that means flowers, sunshine, and fundraising. Our spring fundraiser, A Seat at the Table, will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2021. Follow us on Facebook for updates and details.
