Juan Pablo Steps Into New Role at Midwest Food Bank
We are excited to share that J.P., who joined Midwest Food Bank Florida in 2023 as part of a grant from CareerSource Southwest Florida (story here), is transitioning into a new role within our organization. J.P. now serves as Development and Marketing Assistant, where his creative expertise and administrative skills will continue to strengthen our mission.
"J.P. is a breath of fresh air, and his energetic personality instantly lifts a room up. He works well with all different walks of life and has deep-rooted compassion," said Scot Buss, Development and Marketing Manager.
We're grateful to have J.P. in this expanded role and look forward to the positive impact he will continue to bring to Midwest Food Bank and our community.
GEORGIA
Georgia Division Welcomes Elaine Poitevint as Volunteer Coordinator
We are excited to announce that Elaine Poitevint has accepted the role of Volunteer Coordinator for the Midwest Food Bank Georgia Divisione. Elaine brings a wealth of experience in leadership, business development, and community engagement—making her a perfect fit for this vital role.
Elaine has a proven track record of success, having built two businesses from the ground up. For the past six years, she has been an integral part of Atlanta Sound Works, a multi-million-dollar corporation, where she has demonstrated expertise in large service projects, event planning, procurement, accounts payable, sales, and marketing.
Her connection to Midwest Food Bank is not new—Elaine has previously volunteered at the Georgia Division alongside her family and co-workers. Her passion for community service extends beyond volunteering; she has played an active role in New Hope Baptist Church as a Board Member, where she fostered relationships with local churches and youth ministries. Additionally, she coordinated meal programs for 100 football players through the Whitewater High School Football Booster Club (2022-2024).
Elaine is an alumna of the University of West Georgia, where she graduated on the Dean's List with a double major in Psychology and Mass Communications, specializing in Public Relations. Midwest Food Bank Names New Leaders to Strengthen Our Mission
Midwest Food Bank is pleased to announce key leadership appointments designed to enhance our impact. Marcie Luhigo will now serve as Development Director, overseeing fundraising initiatives for the broader Midwest Food Bank footprint. Diara Nicholson is stepping into the role of Executive Director for Midwest Food Bank Indiana.
"These appointments highlight the top-tier talent we are fortunate to have at Midwest Food Bank," said Pat Burke, COO. "Marcie and Diara embody our mission and bring invaluable experience to their new roles. Together, they will advance our goal of serving those in need with excellence."
Marcie came to Midwest Food Bank in 2022, bringing a wealth of experience in nonprofit leadership. Over the past two years, Marcie has successfully led the Indiana division, building strong relationships and driving impactful programs. In her new role as Development Director, Marcie will focus on expanding fundraising initiatives for Midwest Food Bank across all divisions. Her background at Horizon House, where she developed community service programs and honed her fundraising skills, has prepared her to make a lasting impact.
"I am excited to step into this new role and focus on strengthening support for Midwest Food Bank's mission," said Marcie. "Together, we can continue to serve more families with the excellence and care they deserve."
Diara Nicholson joined Midwest Food Bank Indiana in 2024 as Operations Manager. With more than a decade of experience in logistics, quality control, and operations, most recently at Eli Lilly, Diara has already made a significant impact. Her leadership in advancing the use of Primarius has allowed the Indiana team to streamline inventory systems, enabling the transition from a dual inventory system. Diara's focus on process optimization and team leadership will help Indiana continue to grow its impact, ensuring that resources are used efficiently to serve those in need.
