MFB Florida hosts Tender Mercies packing event
Tender Mercies, Midwest Food Bank's packaged rice and beans meal is headquartered in the Morton, Illinois division. As a way of showcasing the product and facilitating the volunteer experience, MFB Morton began hosting offsite packing events in 2018. Initially, these events were held in Central Illinois, but they have expanded to Midwest Food Bank locations in different states.
On Thursday, January 9, 2020, MFB Florida held its very first Tender Mercies packing party. Lisa Martin, MFB Morton Executive Director, and Central Illinois volunteer, Jaylyn Knobloch, were able to join us and provide us guidance. Volunteers packed 2,160 bags of Tender Mercies, 8,640 meals!
