MFB Indiana Volunteer spotlight: Jeff Davis

Here at Midwest Food Bank, we can't say enough about the many volunteers that walk through our door. They not only do essential tasks but their attitudes and spirit are beyond measure. Jeff Davis is one of those volunteers.

We were humbled recently to learn he shared his thoughts about MFB in a letter to the editor, Indianapolis Star. Here is an excerpt:

"I can honestly say that these six years have been among the happiest times of my life. From cleaning property grounds along-side management to granting an agency request for an extra box of dry goods, to palletizing boxes of chips, etc., I have managed to keep busy and grow personally. No number of degrees, no professional accomplishment, no disability should keep you from participating in an effort such as this. It is just too much fun!"

Jeff found MFB through a web search and then a telephone inquiry. He was looking for something to keep himself busy after a career in banking, real estate, and investment where he utilized his master's degrees in business and finance."

I walked in their door and was welcomed to a world of compassion, unity, kindness, happiness, and personal growth which I had not envisioned," says Jeff.

He doesn't let his own health struggles interfere with his willingness to serve, either.

"What a blessing it is to see kingdom work being accomplished with folks like Jeff Davis," says John Whitaker, executive director.

MFB statistics show there are 800 volunteers for every one paid staff member. Those statistics can't measure the value of our volunteers. Thank you, Jeff Davis, and the more than 32,000 people that volunteer at our MFB locations.
