Prayer meetings an encouragement at MFB Pennsylvania

Two years ago, Midwest Food Bank Pennsylvania initiated a prayer meeting, inviting staff and volunteers to unite in prayer for our agency partners working directly with those in need. This gathering unexpectedly evolved into a valuable time of connection and sharing, leading to establishing quarterly morning prayer meetings. The get-togethers usually include singing, prayer, and an opportunity for everyone to share requests and praises.

Kathy Anderson-Martin, the Executive Director, shares that while initially intended as a way to bless MFB partners, the meeting turned out to be a significant blessing for staff and volunteers as well. "In the day-to-day hustle of pulling food orders and loading trucks, we don't often have time to hear the struggles and praises from our partners and vice versa," says Kathy. "These meetings are a powerful reminder of how God uses our mutual tasks to serve Him and others."

Aleta Serrano, MFB Pennsylvania Board President, reflected on the recent February gathering: "It's truly remarkable what God does when a group of people – of all different walks of life – gather together to pray. God moves, and he moved that day!"

Tony from Susquehanna Recovery Initiatives, which provides residential addiction treatment programs, is a regular at these prayer meetings. "There is power in prayer, which is why I enjoy participating," says Tony. "Midwest Food Bank is also an answer to prayer."

Additional prayer meetings are set for May 2, August 1, and November 14 at 8:30 a.m. in the MFB Pennsylvania conference room, and everyone is welcome.
