Successful program expanding
Midwest Food Bank Indiana has participated in the Food Drop program since its inception. In five months more than 87,000 pounds of food were donated. The success of the Indianapolis based initiative has allowed it to expand to the whole state.
Food Drop gives drivers the option of dropping rejected food loads at one of nine participating locations. Loads are sometimes rejected due to cosmetic or logistical reasons. Drivers are promised speedy unloading and a tax deductible receipt. All of this is free of charge to drivers.
MFB is thankful to be a part of this program helping food-insecure Hoosiers.
