Volunteer Mike a blessing to MFB Texas

You don't have to be at Midwest Food Bank Texas long before you'll see Mike Stuart. He is here daily, often for six to eight hours. You can find Mike in the warehouse, driving a forklift.

Mike is retired from the Thomson Rueters Corporation. He is a widower with four children, eight grandchildren, and even one great-grand. Mike was looking for something to help him avoid boredom, loneliness, and depression when volunteer Calvin Petty suggested MFB.

"I absolutely love what I do and find it very rewarding to play a role in helping people in need," says Mike. "I do what I do for the Lord!"

"Mike is a joker who puts a smile on others' faces," says Rhonda Revels, Community Development Manager for MFB Texas. "He has a true servant's heart and is a blessing to us all."

Volunteers are the lifeblood of Midwest Food Bank. For every paid staff member, there are 800 volunteers - the equivalent of more than 150 full-time employees! Click here to see what upcoming volunteer opportunities are available.
